Tofacent tablet price

tofacent

Tofacent 5 mg is a medication containing the active ingredient Tofacitinib, which is primarily used to treat various inflammatory conditions, including rheumatoid arthritis, psoriatic arthritis, and ulcerative colitis. Tofacitinib works by inhibiting Janus kinase (JAK) enzymes, which play a crucial role in the inflammatory process and immune system regulation. By blocking these enzymes, Tofacitinib helps reduce inflammation and modulate immune responses.

Indications

Tofacent 5 mg is indicated for:

  • Rheumatoid Arthritis: For adult patients with moderately to severely active rheumatoid arthritis who have had an inadequate response or intolerance to methotrexate. It can be used alone or in combination with methotrexate or other non-biologic disease-modifying antirheumatic drugs (DMARDs).
  • Psoriatic Arthritis: For adults with active psoriatic arthritis who have had an inadequate response or intolerance to methotrexate or other DMARDs.
  • Ulcerative Colitis: For adults with moderately to severely active ulcerative colitis who have not responded adequately to or are intolerant of other therapies.

Dosage and Administration

  • Rheumatoid Arthritis and Psoriatic Arthritis: The recommended dosage is 5 mg taken twice daily or 11 mg extended-release taken once daily. For patients with moderate to severe renal impairment or moderate hepatic impairment, the dosage is adjusted to 5 mg once daily.
  • Ulcerative Colitis: Initially, 10 mg taken twice daily for at least 8 weeks, then reduced to 5 or 10 mg twice daily based on the clinical response.
